This site tells again of Wakefield's great history. The building is now used as The Magistrates Court, but was once the busy and thriving Tammy Hall. Wakefield being a major trader in the woollen industry. The building dates back to 1777 and was for the sale of Tammies ( worsted cloths ). Part of the large Tammy Hall was demolished to make way for The Town Hall. The remaining section became a police station and the Town Hall end became The Fire Station HQ. Carvings in the stone still show what the buildings previous use was.
